Fifth EASSE European Day (Online)

Personalized education in times of COVID-19.

The lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent months has shown us that there are ample possibilities to develop personalized education through digital channels, allowing us to continue with students’ integral education and thus being able to continue helping families in educating their children. In addition, teachers have also had the opportunity to redefine their role in the new digital framework, which has led to the improvement of personal and professional skills, especially those related to tutoring.

This digital environment has also facilitated the opening of new communication spaces for institutions, especially in the promotion of educational projects. In this sense, school digital marketing offers an essential support for the knowledge of and access to new audiences and new forms of interaction.

EASSE holds its Fourth Annual Conference in Berlin

More than 15 countries participated in the gathering held on October 4 and 5.

Education in today’s society, school management as a brand and the importance of precepting were some of the topics covered in the lectures and workshops.

Pilar Lacorte of the UIC’s Institute of Higher Family Studies opened Friday’s program with her lecture “Solid education in a liquid society,” a presentation on the interweaving of education, family and school in today’s society. Next, the Brand Manager of Institució Familiar d’Educació Miquel Rossy highlighted the role of teachers as ambassadors of the school brand and the importance of school management from the communication and marketing perspective.

On Saturday, the expert in differentiated education, Jaume Camps (UIC) presented different arguments on differentiated education, and then the Director of the TDJ Foundation Dobrochna Lama highlighted the importance of precepting in single-sex schools as a tool for comprehensive and personalized education. The various workshops on teacher mobility (Barbara Schellenberger , Mädchengymnasium Jülich, Germany), Innovation in Childhood Education (Lucía Capapé, Fomento Centros de Enseñanza, Spain) and Promotion of Early Childhood Education Centers (Heidi Burkhart, President Stella International School, Austria) offered the attendees projects and experiences to promote teacher training, classroom innovation and improved promotion.

Finally, the President of EASSE, Joan Curcó, closed the conference with a speech entitled “Educational project and context,” highlighting the importance of family-school collaboration as a pillar of children’s education.

With this plurality of situations, initiatives and projects, EASSE seeks to contribute to promoting differentiated education throughout Europe as a legitimate educational option by promoting gatherings, studies and scientific research that support this option and promote the knowledge and dissemination of this model.

The city of Berlin hosted this year’s Fourth EASSE European Conference on October 4 and 5, which, just like every year, brought together educators and teaching professionals with the aim of providing a meeting and training point.
